I think it's about 660' so that would be 201 metres.

I really like the tower. Atlanta is so awesome because it has so many skylines and so many great towers. Im exited for all of the skylines but downtown is the most exiting. With all of the towers proposed downtown and midtown may be merged before 2010.

Do you all have any information on the peachtree portal towers, atlantic center plaza 3, and the 50 Allen Plaza skyscraper? Can you all post pictures of the Buckhead skyline and the symphony center tower. And yea what about that 50 story Gallerstdt building

Thanks for posting this. I LOVE the tower, but hate the location. I wish this were going up in the city. Down with buckhead.

Nice to hear this...any recent updates on it?

It's a great looking tower. It'll look nice if it is completed. Doesn't even look American in srtyle...that's one reason why I like it.

Hate to be milk toast but, Im not diggin it. But I dont hate it. I love the skyscrapers in Atlanta. but they feel inaccessible and sterile. Having lived there I agree with blucloud. I think Downtown should spread, rather than every area having license to build a skycraper especially, deepset 200 feet away from foot traffic with no street lever retail or public interaction. I was thrilled to see a Macy's downtown. IMO that mile radius is the best in the city. the rest seems like a very tall office park/strip mall(save little 5 which is great too).

Yeah the suburban sprawl that has gone on outside the city is sort of tragic.
The suburban highrise office park is somewhat dysfunctional and when built one after another it gets monotonus.

But the urban core (more than just a mile) is really beginning to take on a spirit of its own. We have had a really great mayor for a few years now and she has kicked some ass around City Hall.

In spite of very little metro/state support MARTA is trying to expand. They want to build a 22 mile lightrail loop and a group of developers are considering funding a streetcar on Peachtree. In Midtown Woodruff Arts Center will soon begin construtction on a Calatrava designed Symphony Hall, The arts center has also just expanded The High Museum with an addition designed by Renzo Piano.

A massive brownfield development, Atlantic Station, is taking shape on the west side of the connector. The site has a 300,000+ sf IKEA built on top of its own parking, this is rare since their stores usually have Disney size parking lots. It also has a 20 screen movie theater, a new Dillards (whopee) and a multi block urban shopping district with condos over the stores. The big flaw is not having a direct rail link, but that will change as the office towers start constuction.

Even the area of Buckhead that 3344 Peachtree will be located in is getting better. The traffic is bad but the streets in that area were mapped out by a drunk Buckhead housewife and her gay interior designer. Some people just shouldn't drive Hummers. The building is great, It will really fit into that location, It will stand out, but I doubt it will overpower.

As for those suburbs, well I just wish they would get along. They act like spoiled ex-beauty queens who can't seem to make the tiara stay on.
Growth that makes the automobile the only regular, reasonable transportation option will choke this region one day.

BTW, that Macy's is closed downtown, the company lacked the courage to make it great. The store could have been the center of a really cool downtown shopping area. I have always loved Little 5 Points too, but even it cannot avoid the wave of change. Big box retail has been built in the neighborhood.

It looks contrived to me. Purposefully eccentric and wierd, seemingly just for wierd's sake(?) I see very little regal about it.

Gee, are we finally thinking out of the box in this country? I had to do a double take if by chance this was maybe Astana, not Atlanta.
