Question John Lewis.

Nice glassy and bright.

Not actually George Henry Lees - as a building.

What is the comparable floor space by the way - does any one know?

Talking Cone's R Us!

About time we had competition for the most imaginative (if not strictly accurate ) purpose for this cone.

I think its Henshaw/Storey's not so secret escape tunnel from the new car park - Thunderbirds/Batman stylee !

Anyone visiting the PSDA site or visitor centre care to find out the real purpose ?

Maybe it's the first of two such structures, with Madonna due to take up residence once complete.

Just imangine some way back when that space was part of Liverpools first dock and `the pool` - we are taking local history and more.

It is hard to believe the role the development of that area played in the rise of the City but they probably didnt have to go through planning then!. I read somewhere that the orginal dock wall they uncovered was to be retained as a historical feature of one of the PSDA buildings. Anyone know any details?

I heard they also dug up one of Billy Butlers original jokes on that site - it predates the dock.

Such a shame they 'lost' the customs house and sailors home -they would be gems in this redevelopment.

This was submitted for planning last month:

05F/2715

Land in vicinity of former Canning Place and abutting Site 13D PSDA underground car park, Liverpool L1

To create Old Dock Interpretation Centre for public viewing of old dock wall within void underneath park

Apparently, the cone shape is part of a conical shaped wall, housing a staircase within the car park

Aaah just like I suggested on post 228! I feel so clever

Great pics - although it will be a while before I can make out much form in the general chaos of Paradise Street currently.

Its going to be amazing when all complete, the School Lane elevation to the BBC building is half constructed.

There will be a Classy shopping arcade alley between the Bluecoat and College Ln, linking Hanover to Church street.

Any decent activity going on at the new Fire Station site in St Annes St...!

I doubt there would be much of a development had they stayed, but yes losing them was sheer vandalism.

I like the car park with it's funky runways. I'm not sure about that wall though. Not particularly pedestrian friendly.

I was thinking the same thing. Hardly going to ease the flow of people to Windsor's developments, is it?

I think the car park is looking increasingly shit with every passing day. The screen to the police headquarters already looks fucking awful, and you're right - that wall is an absolute monstrosity. Jesus fuck, who the hell gave planning permission for this garbage??

Knock the police station down and the screen can go. Simple.
