I wouldn't go that far. They have used some interesting materials, the slopes look quite stylish and as far as car parks go it could look alot worse.

The wall and the screen are certainly the bad points though.

I've been thinking about the screen, they should project some coloured lights onto it that rotate through the spectrum. It's better than 'enjoy coke'.

Radio Merseyside, I reckon the structure is almost complete.

Great pics there Doug.

I think that 3rd one is a continuation of the BBC building, with the Bluecoat extension being behind the Bluecoat frontage. Herbert's is coming along nicely also, will be able to get my Buffont coiffieured there soon at the Bling Bling building.

P.s. I hate that when i get home to find my pictures are blurry, need a bigger lcd on my camera to check quality.

Thanks, I think your right about the BBC & Bluecoat.

That Herbert pic looked great when I checked on the LCD, I was a bit pissed off when I put it on my PC and saw it.

It will look brilliant, but will look very different to this render, Cesar Pelli has worked up an almost finished design that was shown at a public meeting last May. I am surprised that this new design has not appeared on the Grosvenor web site, maybe its still to be approved by city planners.

There are three main changes, the large block facing the Strand is up to 17 mikes high, the park has been extended back towards Paradise St and the steps in the grassed areas are now meandering paths with a grand staircase leading up to the park from the John Lewis store, a "old dock information centre" is to be built under the staircase.

this is really starting to take speed now. of all the developments going on this is one that will truely change liverpool.. a bit like queens sq did only on a much larger scale, add lime street gateway, kings dock, a regenerated rope walks and baltic triangle, completed princes dock, a new revitalized commercial district at old hall street and st pauls sq andd central docks possibly on the way we will truely have a city to be proud of

Paul D, the actual render of this 17 mike tower was the same as the old render, just the height has been increased. The other block to be built over the transport interchange ( outside police hq) has also been increased in length it now starts nearer to the Strand. Cesar Pelli has retained the elipse shape of the the buildings around the park, but as yet there does not appear to be details of these buildings that will ring the park. The principle changes have affected the actual park layout and still only give an indication of what all the new blocks will look like.

I guess we will have to wait for the planning application to be submitted.

Anyone know when work to demolish the Paradise Street NCP and Bus Station is expected to start? The new car park at Canning Place and the new bus (and possibly tram) stop to be completed in November, could we see demolition work in late December maybe?

Laing O`Rourke will be very anxious to continue with the underground car park towards Paradise St, so expect to see a start the day after the new MSCP and bus station are opened sometime in November. They will have a hell of a lot of work to do on this part of the site, as it rises from 4 levels of underground parking to 4 levels above grade.

Q Park the owners of the new carpark in Liver Street have said this:
The Q-Park Liver Street car park opens to the public at 2.30pm on November 21st 2005 following the official launch, with the adjacent NCP Paradise Street car park closing the same day.
