1. Kuala Lumpur KLIA
2. Hong Kong Int
3. Jakarta Soekano Hatta

Soekana Hatta is an underrated little airport with lots of tropical greenery and oriental style pavillions. Unfortuantely hardly any pics of it to be found.

BRISBANE AIRPORT
Brisbane Airport now recognised as world’s best

Brisbane Airport has been recognised as the world’s most efficient and customer focused privatised airport by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) was today awarded an IATA Eagle at the 61st IATA Annual General Meeting in Tokyo in “special recognition of outstanding performance in customer satisfaction, cost-efficiency and continuous improvements.’’

The IATA Eagle Awards are presented annually to recognise airport and air navigation service infrastructure providers who provide value for money and quality service to their airline customers. They also acknowledge the positive steps being taken by airports and air navigation services to control infrastructure costs and related charges.

Receiving the award in Tokyo, BAC Managing Director and CEO Koen Rooijmans, said the prestigious international award acknowledged the partnerships built between BAC and its airline customers over the past five years, and their success in delivering a world-class aviation service to Brisbane and Queensland.

“We must thank Emirates Airlines for nominating us – it is one of the finest airport-airline partnerships I have had the pleasure of experiencing. This Eagle Award is recognition of the unique way we conduct our business at Brisbane. My own background, including 22 years with KLM, gives me a heightened understanding of the complexities of airport/airline relationships,” Mr Rooijmans said.

“Here in Brisbane, we have a win-win philosophy; offering incentives to airlines and demonstrating Brisbane Airport’s willingness to share the risk. As a result, Brisbane Airport is Australia’s fastest growing, with double-digit growth expected to continue into the next few years.”

“More than $15 million passengers now travel through Brisbane Airport every year with more and more airlines choosing to fly from Brisbane. We are also fast establishing ourselves as the aviation education and training centre of excellence for Australia and the pacific region, and an export gateway for South East Asia.”

Mr Rooijmans said the award also celebrated the successful privatisation of Australian airports and the vision by the Federal Government to transform Australia’s aviation industry into one of the world’s best.

Two awards were presented this year: Brisbane was recognised for its significant growth as a privately owned airport in a de-regulated market; Singapore Changi Airport was recognised as the best performing government-owned international hub.

Previous award winners have included San Francisco International Airport, Athens International Airport and Manchester Airport.

On a world scale Brisbane airport is quite small with only about 16 million passengers per year. It has two separate terminals – below is the international terminal.

Below is the Domestic Terminal

Airports location with relationship to the city.

Both Terminals

Inside its very similar to Hong Kong – only much smaller. There is a lot of natural light, fully grown trees, shops, cafes, restaurants and its open 24 hours a day.
