House of Fraser to anchor Abu Dhabi's latest mall

A community mall that will be anchored by the British high street department store House of Fraser is on track to open this year in the capital.

The Mall at World Trade Centre, which is attached to the Central Market souq in Abu Dhabi, is expected to be completed early in the third quarter.

The shopping centre is built in the same architectural style as the souq, but at 60,000 square metres of leasable space, it is significantly larger, with room for about 160 shops

It is part of the wider World Trade Centre development, which includes offices and apartments. Featuring rooftop gardens and linking to Central Market via a bridge, the mall will have anchor stores on each of its four levels.

Hotel to complete Aldar WTC project

Quote:
The show apartments in the residence tower, which is the tallest building in Abu Dhabi, should be on line about the same time. But the first tenants in the 98-floor, 474-apartment building will probably not move in until at least January, said Mr Bell.
"The crane is about to come down, so most of the cladding is done now. A lot of the lower floors are substantially complete in terms of fitting out bathrooms and kitchens," he said. "They have started the testing and commissioning, but with 98 floors there is a lot of testing and commissioning to be done."
The remaining element, a four-star Courtyard by Marriott hotel, would probably be handed over in the second quarter of next year.

Arabtec takes whole of Aldar's WTC office tower

Quote:

Arabtec has taken a long-term lease for the entire commercial tower which is being built as part of Aldar's World Trade Centre development on the site of Abu Dhabi's former central market.

The new office building, which is expected to be delivered in September, will support the contractor's expansion plans, including its decision to expand into the oil & gas and infrastructure sector, as well as building its MEP, facilities management and affordable housing businesses.

Arabtec gained shareholder approval to raise up to $1.75bn earlier this week - $1.3bn through a pair of rights issues, and $450m through non-convertible bonds.

Arabtec has said that its headquarters will remain in Dubai, but that the new 59-storey tower will provide both the main construction arm and its subsidiaries with a base from which to grow within Abu Dhabi.
