This thread sucks!!! No information, no maps, nothing... just tons of random ugly and mostly old pics...

Hey ChrisZwolle can you please just erase it??.. until we find some user that really care and is interested to open and maintain a decent thread about argentinian highways and routes.

The (never-ending) construction of the Rosario-Cordoba motorway was finally completed yesterday according to argentinean newspapers.

The final 42 km section (Leones-Tortugas) will be opened on December 22. (the rest of the motorway was already on service)
This 379 km Rosario-Cordoba motorway also serves to give a full motorway link between Buenos Aires (argentinean capital and its main city) and Cordoba (the second largest city in Argentinina with over 1,5 millons on its metropolitan area).

It's a toll motorway with 2 central toll plazas on its run. The tolls cost around US$ 1.- each. The motorway runs paralel to the old national road but some kms away in order to avoid all towns keeping a straight course. The old route was lacking a lot of town bypasses if compared to the average argentine road, luckly now it will be used mostly for local trafic only.

The final section of the 380-kilometer Autopista from Rosario to Córdoba was inaugurated yesterday by president Kirchner. It is now possible to drive from Buenos Aires to Córdoba via uninterrupted motorways.

I am amazed that it took so long since authorities have been planning that link since the 70's.

Yep, but the first section opened only 11 years ago (both ends near Córdoba and Rosario). Actual construction time was pretty fast.

Autovía Santa Fe - Paraná

The new 2x2 Autovía between Santa Fe and Paraná will open on December 30th. This road already existed as a 2-lane highway, but is now widened to a 2x2 expressway. The 2.4 km tunnel under the Rio Paraná will remain 2-laned for now.
