Probally 500,000 I'd say, but after looking at these buildings I would think mabye more.

People like me from New Jersey have seen high prices from Condos around the gold coast. Its wierd because in Somerset county, where I live, you can buy a McMansion for that price.

Ok..while I love all of the buildings going up as well as the style of the buildings, why hasn't Miami built a signature skyscraper? I mean a vast amount of skyscrapers going up in Miami could go up in any city. Empire World would help with it being so tall but it's design is a bit dull.

Because we're very VERY lazy... and also because it’s too hot to go outside atm.

There are currently 60+ high-rise buildings under construction in Miami. I don’t have pictures of very many of them so I’m just posting some of the projects under construction in downtown Miami (there are 16 other projects under construction in downtown Miami alone that I couldn’t find pictures of).

Thank you for this topic. I never knew that there are so many new projects in Miami.

When visiting Florida with a friend who was looking for a house their. Most agencies here and in Florida advised us not to go to Miami or look for a house there. They claimed it had the highest murder rate in the US and one of the highest crime rates. They said 1 out of 3 people lived in poverty.

After seeing this topic, I wish I did go to Miami, just to see the skyline

Your real estate agents have been watching too much TV. According to wikipedia Miami ranks 27th in violent crime rate. You would want to avoid Opa Locka though (not so far from Miami). It has the highest violent crime rate in the US. But, if your agent managed to sell you a home in Opa Locka you would either be an idiot or a victim of the world's most charismatic real estate agent ever. Oh, and Kansas City has a higher murder rate than Miami. Miami is not close to being the most dangerous city in the US.

@DGM

I have no entend of giving Miami a bad name. I had also not done any research on the claims of the real estate against. I did not buy a house, but a friend of mine was looking for a house.

Now I just did check Wikipedia and it says the following on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami

Quote:
Based on the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports Program, Miami ranks as the second most dangerous metropolitan area in the United States, based number of murders, rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries and motor vehicle thefts that have occurred in the metropolitan area. The city proper ranks 14th.
I do think Miami has a nice skyline and is going to be getting a great one in the years to come, according to this topic.

You should check wiki's citations before you make judgements. The article you are using as your resource is from 1991...

Its a shame Wikipedia uses such old data. This give cities such as Miami a bad name. Thank you for noticing Paul. I had no idee how old it was.

I also didn't know that the miami flag looks like the indian flag.. lol

Alot of people say that Miami will never compare to NYC. You never know. If this rate continues or gets larger, hopefully, you could see NYC falling. Culture wise, NEVER, but buidling wise, yes.

Yea, but it is unsafe... your looking at the wrong refrence there...

This is for 2003-2004

http://www.morganquitno.com/cit01pop.htm

Miami is all over the boards here. It ranks second in the unsafest metropolitan areas...

Miami as a city ranks 14th.

It ranks as the 9th unsafest city with populations 100K-500K

Miami is beautiful city though...

I wonder if the crime has anything to do with the massive illegal immigration... who knows?

On their front page though... florida is ranked as the most improved state as quality of living goes, so maybe the state as a whole is improving...

New York City:
5,497 completed completed
112 under construction under construction
100 proposed proposed
38 approved approved

Miami:
208 completed completed
57 under construction under construction
48 proposed proposed
79 approved approved

Even at a Dubai or Shanghai-like speed, it would be hard to close that kind of gap in a sane amount of time, nevermind the problem of absorbing that many units.
