Here is a map by the Miami Downtown Development Authority that could help people see where many of the new projects in the downtown area are going. Some newer projects are missing but most are shown:

After just visiting Miami in December I was fascinated by the number of highrises being built (on par with Chicago) which the list reinforces. However I do have a major concern for Miami devolopment and it has been mentioned before. They are all CONDOS! I understand that their is a demographic change and their is a current demand for housing in Miami but with that being said why can't they build some of these highrises as mixed use. This would be more secure so if the real estate market tanks their would still be city taxes coming in from the other half of the building that is being leased to corporations. (Or 75% could be condos 25% Corporate Leased) Does anyone agree...don't get me wrong I love Miami but just do not agree with them gambling it all on these 100% condo highrises.

^ dan...a good portion of these condos being built in Miami are of mixed use but mostly downtown. The city has been through real estate busts before but demand is what is fueling this boom now which is in 5th year now.

Impresive, even with only the ones that have already been aproved, Miami will have a lot more towers!

Check Dave's post (#166). You'll see which buildings are currently under construction. Unfortunately it doesnt include renderings. I dont have the time right now to post all of them though.

Wow, Miami may rival New York and Chicago in the future.
