Non-Urban Photo Contest
Who is up for it? Should we do it ourselves or get Jan to organize it? Maybe it could become a weekly feature? Discuss....

I think it's a great idea. We might not want to have it so expansive as the title "Non-Urban Photo Contest" suggests. We could do rotations. One week it could be Nature Photos. The next week it could be Portraits. The next week Macro Photos. Etc, etc...

OH YEA! Im all for that! Ive tons of pics ready
Lets get Jan to get this started. We need Jan to give this a structure likt eh UPC. You are gonna have about 40-70 photos entered per week, maybe more. You wanna be counting up the averages for all those pic manually? I dont know why ths idea hasnt been brought up before. |

These are good ideas. It would be great to have non-urban photo contests with particular themes as Nick in Alatalta suggests.

Themes are good but having no themes would be good too. If we choose themes they would have to be very broad themes.

Most of my photos arent really the kind that UPC is about. Ive got tons of traditional temple stuff that people bitch about not being urban enough. Really this NUPC is a fantastic idea. |

Though thanks to the UPC Ive started to take more urban type of stuff. Though I still WAY prefer raditional oriental architecture. Tjough try explaining that a palace is more urban than a scraper since palaces and temples were part of cities for centuries and scrapers are new. But people dont follow that logic.

Sweet
![]() The themes concept is nice too. Then you get something of an assignment, that has to be made in that week or something. Check out www.fredmiranda.com and then go to the forums and check the weekly assignment sub-forum. That would be awesome.

I'm against the idea of specific "themes" each week though - I think you'd rapidly run out of categories, and it would become a bit too restricting. Best to keep it opened as a "general" photo contest I think, then people are free to submit any photo on any theme they like. |

Jan, yer the man! Good response, very quick and positive ![]() Any theme? Im gonna have to start thinking about which photos I wanna submit so I want to be ready. I propose that the first week have no theme and we enter any 2 pics we wish. |

I don't want to take credit for this idea! wjfox says he has mentioned it and I am sure many people have and there is a general photo contest at skyscraperpage.com. Thanks for the quick action Jan!

I disagree. My photos dont fit those themes. How would you categorize photos of traditional architecture or things like lanterns? Too restricting. This should be a chance to enter all photos that dont fit the UPC. Why create another contest that excludes photos? If thats what you want, why bother? No themes is the best idea. |
