It's nice to see Warsaw metro progress. The problem is that the new projects do not take into account 2 important places: the Central Railway Station and the Old Town. It is quite unusual for cities having both a metro system and a central railway station that these 2 infrastructures do not meet. Also an easy access to the Old Town would be beneficial for tourists.

Between railway station and subway station there's 500 meter distance. In halfway between them there's a train station for local trains. It's similar situation to Stockholm for example. Moving walkways on -1 level would be an appropriate solution for a while. III or IV line is planned next to the central railway station.
When it comes to Old Town, it borders on the Royal Route which is as attractive for tourists as Old Town itself. The Royal Route is 2 tram stops from the central railway station. Transport in Warsaw a few next decades will be based on trams.

Whether it's great news or not is a question of personal taste. The ones who are able to calculate and analyze have long ago said that the same money invested in the improvement of the existing tram (and partially rail) infrastructure would have resulted in a significantly larger improvement of the quality of public transport in Warsaw.

up-to-date scheme of railway network (only means of transportation operated directly by MTA: tram (solid lines), subway (blue dashed line) and SKM (violet dashed line). Does not cover Mazovian Railways and WKD.

Like the Warsaw transport. The old trams look a bit old-fashioned to me, but they are also nice.

Sweet
Where are the renderings and graphs from, i.e. can they be found in better resolution?

That's direct source: http://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/
But they were available on many sites.

Do you think a lot of people will use this new line? I don't know anything about the Warsaw metro so I'm just curious.

Without another 2 stretches line won't be fully functional. Yet analyses conducted by audit companies and other professionals shown, that the entire II line after completion will have sufficient passenger streams.
Entire line from station Bródno on northern branch to station Mory:

Thanks for the great thread, I was in Warsaw in 2004 and the metro was good, but still limited to one line, hopefully Warsaw will have at least 4 lines by 2020! Do zobaczenia!

I don't know how I feel about those subway-station entrances. Looks kind of out of place.

Yes, it is. Szybka Kolej Miejska = Stadtschnellbahn
But they need a lot of time to upgrade it to appropriate standard.
Actually, at the moment we have 2 regular suburban/regional rail providers: SKM and KM (and 1 separate WKD line electrified at 600 Volts DC), but one can use common tickets in 2 urban zones:

IMHO it's too futuristic and too streamlined for regular suburban train with 130 km/h v-max.
As for the moment it will be only 4 new trains, but there is planned tender for next 13 trains to serve new airport line.
