Thank you all! I'll go reading the threads you linked me

PS: I confirm that I had no knowledge of the connection between Centralna and Śródmieście... even after looking at some maps before departing!

Its a major pain in the a"".
Lots of people write in forums that those three station are somewhat connected underground (on the eastern end of the rail platforms). I have never seen this connection, probably some smart locals only know about it.

It looks like a complete failure of proper city planing.
In summer one must navigate through the mud and cross some crazy traffic streets in order to get from Centralna to Śródmieście. What a joke!

Wrong. SKM (S3) uses both Centralna and Śródmieście.

Many tried to find it, few ever saw the light of day again.

If you give me some hint, I could try to locate it in the next days... just for fun...

I realize they are two different questions... why Centralna and Srodmiesce are separate, and why the metro does not pass right under one of the two rail stations?

Can somebody tell me more about the transportation history of this part of the city? Thank you in advance
Centralna and Śródmieście are directly connected on the level of the platforms, but connection is poorly marked, as Piotr mentioned.

When it comes to Śródmieście and Metro Centrum: connection at the level of Śródmieście platforms was originally planned, but due to savings in 90's it was postponed for a undefined future.

Centralna Station is planned to be directly connected with III or IV Metro line in undefined future.

You should go to the eastern end of Centralna platforms, or to the western end Śródmieście platforms.

Black path on this scheme, so be careful :

Novotel? I was at the Metropol but now I'm back in Italy...

I eventually managed to see the underground connection between Centralna and Srodmiescie. It is clean and quite wide, but it is competely not indicated anywhere.

What is the meaning of having two names? They could have called it simply "Centralna" with TOR 1-8 in Centralna and TOR 9-10 at Srodmiescie... "Garibaldi" station in Milan has two groups of tracks in different places...

Anyway, some additional sign would very useful. Cheers

Living in Ukraine, I haven't experienced with on-board information, 24-hour transport tickets and even long buses. Warsaw is looking like most European cities with efficient transport system. I like new PESA trams, wide streets, low-level buses.

Being at Srodmiescie station, however, I noticed the gap between train and platform. For me this gap is unnoticeable, but for wheelchairs users, it needs to do platforms lower.

I like European way of better transport - it has everything you want

Continuing my coverage about my visit to Warsaw. In this post, I'll show the photos from Wilenska and Zacisze Wilno stations. Both stations are on Transport Zone 1, so I have ability ride without extra cost. Wilenska station is three-track terminus station with shopping mall above. It's Warsaw's only terminus. Green construction walls is for future metro line 2 station:

Rome wasn't built in a day.

BTW Where is Warszawa Stadion: the best urban rail station in Warsaw?
Have You seen Ursus Niedźwiadek Station too?

24 h tickets are valid in both zones.

You gave me an occasion to boast about my city.
Important change is going to happen in Warsaw soon. In years 2014-2016 there will be mounted over 1500 of Warsaw bus & tram stop sheds of this type and of its simplified version:

How could I overlook Your post.
In the Polish section we have a returning discussion about unification of the names of these 2 stations. There are 2 main reasons why it hasn't happened yet: habit and passiveness of the railway company which manages both stations.
