Indeed, it gives a good idea about Warsaw's main streets.

BREAKING NEWS

http://tvnwarszawa.tvn24.pl/informac...is,159276.html

(in Polish)

Rough summary of article in English:

Permission may be formally granted today for the whole of M2 to be used. All of the stations on the line as well as all ventilation shafts, M2 tunnel and connecting M1/M2 tunnel have all been issued with licences for use. By noon today the final decision to allow the use of M2 may be made by Warsaw City Hall

Now we have one or two weeks of testing empty trains on the entire line before allowing passengers onto M2 in mid March (possible - exact opening date is still unknown). 5000 km worth of non-stop test runs must be completed before M2 is put into passenger use (some think this can be done in 3 days???)

Critical, not necessarily negative.

M2 will be opened most probably on March 15-16th.

It has all permits and for the next 2 weeks there will be test rides without passengers with a target frequency.

Last reports suggest that opening will be even a week earlier, on March the 8-9th.

Wow, they really wanted to open line as fast as they can. I'm really hope that the line won't be closed shortly afterwards

So far 1,800 km of the 5,000 km test runs of empty trains on M2 have been completed. It is hoped that by Thursday the whole required distance of
5,000 km will have been completed. Unofficial reports state that M2 may open on Saturday 7th March 2015 - this will be confirmed as true or not once
the test runs have been fully completed (hopefully by Thursday)

This puts M2 in context with M1

It seems that M2 may be more useful for tourists than I thought as I had no idea that Rondo Daszynskiego was close to a tourist site

Then of course we have Centrum Nauki Kopernik within walking distance of the station of the same name - this science centre is yet another
tourist site

Of course it would be unreasonable to expect the metro network to ever reach closer to the old town (stare miasto) as plenty of trams and buses
serve that area already from Ratusz M1 station

Nowy Świat-Uniwersytet isn't that far from the Chopin's Museum.

Wow! Tourists will definitely benefit from M2 (as long as it is mentioned in Warsaw guide books )

Dworzec Wilenski station is also the departure point for trains to Malkinia (for Treblinka monument - a tourist site too)

As a side note - fire evacuation tests took place at Stadion Narodowy M2 station today

Chris, surely tourists will benefit from M2! Western areas of the central part is Wola district, which besides current rapid office projects development in the area is also a really interesting place, unfortunately much neglected. Part of it also belonged to Warsaw ghetto. M2 will also have a Nowy Świat stop, just by the Royal Route and Powiśle besides already mentioned Copernicus Science Centre is also a really nice and green district, just by the Vistula river where currently renovation of boulevards is taking place. Last but not least, east-side stops would by just by stadium and zoo and old Praga, which may be a very interesting place for tourists, as it survived war much better than western part of the city. However, it is also significantly neglected (on the other hand, it has great atmosphere).

Thanks Piotrek. I wouldn't have time to do such a splendid and informative map. It is clear to see now that tourists will definitely benefit from M2

Your comment has been noted kebe - thanks for your assistance. Please don't knock my confidence in understanding written Polish. The test runs of trains hope to be fully completed by tomorrow for possible opening on Sunday 8th March 2015. As yet City Hall are not commiting to an exact time and date for opening

Line "20" entire route:
