Great chronological interactive map of the Warsaw Trams network expansion, from the year 1945 of its reactivation after the Warsaw Uprising disaster till now:

http://sharemap.org/public/Trams_in_Warsaw#!flash

What's worth mentioning in 1945 tram track gauge in Warsaw was changed from Russian 1525 mm to standard European 1435 mm to make it fittable for trams brought from Berlin and Wroclaw as war reparations.

Those trams were ordered in 1939 but not delivered because of war. They went to Berlin. They were revindicated in 1945. Some are still in use as workscars (soon to be replaced by newly built ones):

The L and Lw cars from Wrocław were officially "gift of reclaimed lands for rebuilding of the capital city" but in fact were "war reparations" from ex-German city.

There are no chances to build that until 2020's. There was chance when project was on UE refund list but since it was removed there is no money, no political commitment. Current bus + train capacity (and other ways of reaching airport) is enough and it'll be in next 5 years.

Warsaw is one of the worst managed cities in Europe in key areas such as
1. Public transport development (2-year construction 'tea-break' for metro line 2).
2. Street advertising - Central Warsaw looks a total mess.
3. Design of public places - areas like the Warsaw Uprising Place and Swietokrzyska Street
with its plant pots look absolutely awful.

Worst managed???, there you go again continuing the ancient Polish tradition of trashing your country, no wonder it keeps being undermined and invaded when Poles themselves keep betraying it every chance they get. Really man, how about some perspective and historic context. The changes I have seen in Warsaw over the past few years have been immense, but yes much remains to be done, but you could make your comments more calmly, fairly and with circumspection...and you don't need to attack anyone who makes a positive comment about Warsaw or Poland, which btw has seen the largest increase in GNP of any country in the OECD in the past 7 years...that's spectacular. There are more important things than urban squares when people need jobs.
