Very good point. Those idiots from the Polish government treat taxpayers' money as though it was nobody's money.
135 million zl would be a very welcome sum that could have been invested in, for example, Warsaw's public transport system.

Only a third of the line has been completed. The rest of the tunnelling work will be just as slow and difficult because it is geologically the same type of earth that has to be bored through.

A country doesn't need to get as sodomized as Poland was in the 20th century in order to have pipe dreams postponed to a century later, see the Second Avenue Subway in New York City whose first phase got its funding in one go just before the financial crisis and may be finished at the end of next year. Even if Poland gets sodomized again, which I hope it won't, the core of M2 is finished.
'Sodomize' to me is what politicians are doing to Poland and Warsaw in particular.
We need intelligent people in authority, people that can plan in a competent way and who have a vision for this city, not self-righteous cretins.

On the other hand, 135 million zl is next to nothing for an urban transit project.
No, 135 million is a significant sum of money that could have been utilised in many useful ways.

So long it's about tunnelling ...
I wasn't referring to tunnelling.

It doesn't concern only public transport, but today was reopened Łazienkowski Bridge after its reconstruction after fire in February this year. So Warsaw again has 8 road bridges (including 4 with tram rails), 2 classic railway bridges and one metro tunnel under Vistula River.

Reconstruction itself took only 199 days.

just after the fire:

The city of Warsaw has accepted tender offers of PLN 2.81 (EUR 0.66) billion for the expansion of the second metro line in the Polish capital.

The figure is nearly PLN 335 (EUR 78.3) million below the budget earmarked for the project.

The Warsaw Metro board chose contractors for the planned segments of the second metro line on Thursday.

The Turkish consortium Gulermak “submitted the best bid” for the construction of stations to the west of Metro Rondo Daszyńskiego. It tendered an offer for PLN 1.1 (EUR 0.26) billion.

To the east of Metro Dworzec Wileński, the Italian company Astaldi S.p.A. tendered an offer to complete work for PLN 1.6 (EUR 0.37) billion.

Both tenders are for the construction of three stations on each end of the existing section of the second line of the Warsaw Metro, which currently has seven stations.

Each side of the contract has 10 days to make submissions for changes.

Gulermak and Astaldi S.p.A. have 38 months to complete three stations each following the signing of the contract.

The six new stations will expand the whole length of the so-called M2 line to 13.5 kilometres. (ua/rg)

A great opportunity was missed to include a couple of cycling lanes running underneath the sides of the bridge. T
hese could have been incorporated whilst the bridge was being redeveloped.

Progressive countries such as Denmark and Holland would have included cycle lanes in the bridge's redevelopment, but not here, because the motorist is treated with much more importance. Cyclists can wait a few more years.
