What new transit stations will be built in Chicago?

Leaving out the future Circle Line, the West Loop Transit Station, and the Block 37 megastation, what new stations are in talks of being constructed on Chicago's Metra/CTA system?

Which ones do you guys anticipate will be built sooner rather than later?

This includes both CTA and Metra, and both the city and those damn burbs. Are there any new stations u/c now? Correct me if I"m wrong, but there are a few suburban Metra stations being built as we speak, right?

Any word about new stations along the western or southern branches of the green line? How about a new station at Roosevelt/Clark along the Metra Electric line? I once heard talk about that one.

I encourage all of you to become members of Campaign for Better Transit, a website and forum which deals with Chicagoland transportation. I just ran into it today, its website is www.bettertransit.com and has a few dedicated forumers, although there is still a lot of room for growth. Lets show our support--not just for skyscrapers, but for the region's public transportation system.

The Yellow Line, of course, has the fewest stations and the longest run without any (being an express train). I have heard that Crawford Avenue in Skokie is a real possiblity. One would also think that existing but unused and deteriorating stations in Evanston (i.e. Asbury, Dodge) could be reopenned (these were never CTA stations, but were used by the old North Shore electric years ago).

Yellow line expansion, at least from Dempster to to Old Orchard, has been discussed for years.

Orange line to Ford City also has been in the cards for awhile.

As for Metra, there is talk (I don't think much past the talk stage) or openning its first line that does not go downtown. It would basically go from Lake County, west of O'Hare, through DuPage, to I believe Jolliet.

^I haven't heard about Lake and Joliet, but there are plans for a Metra line going through DuPage, but it'll stop at about the county line. Quite a bit has been spent on planning thus far, it seems pretty serious.

Well, they're revamping pretty much all the stations along Metra's Southwest line (new stations, longer platforms, electronic signs, etc.) and they've built a station that serves Palos Heights right next to the Cal-Sag.

What's happening with the Blue line extension from O'Hare to Schaumburg/Woodfield?

Still a pipe dream at this point. We're more likely to see the Orange Line extension to Ford City and the Red Line extension to 130th before anything happens with the Blue Line. Extending the Yellow Line to Old Orchard mall is also a real possibility.

In terms of new stations on the CTA, the next new station will most likely be at Madison/United Center on the recently rehabbed Paulina Connector.

They're also doing this along the Milwuakee/St. Paul line. Although many of the stations are in the planning stage, some like Itasca's, have been built in the last couple years.

There's serious talk about constructing a stop in downton Skokie at Oakton street on the yellow line. I heard the village was going to do some research on the idea. The proposal has picked up pace because a research park with 3,500 workers in the works to be constructed near by.

I've also heard that West Loop businesses and residents have been pushing for a Morgan Street stop on the Lake streeet El. I've also heard about the CTA maybe construcitng a stop on the South Side EL between Roosevelt and 35th somewhere to serve the near south housing boom and the growing Mc Cormick place.
