Shiraz, the heart of Persia

Between ancient Persian cities of Firuzabad, Persepolis, Bishapur and Pasargadae, there is one of the largest cities of Iran, the ancient and modern city of Shiraz with about one thousand beautiful buildings.

Isn't it the most beautiful building in the world:

Shah Cheragh (The king of Light) Mosque in Shiraz, 12th century, Salghurid period

Another beautiful mosque:

A large Castle:

A historical Garden:

A Turkish Bath:

A Bazaar:

A Church:

A Shrine:

My Father still talks about this city. He said this was the best place he visited ever. When you think of Shiraz, its all about Hafiz.

The ruins of Persepolis lies about 60 km northeast.

Freedom Shiraz looks more beautiful then what I imagined. You are
very right! The most beautiful architect in the world! Is Shiraz considered the
economical city of Iran of Asfahan as I am assuming?

This is SO beautiful!

lol.. I dunno.. was looking at it with interest too. It looks like it will topple and cause a landslide. I wouldn't want to be on that balcony.

hi, i am an indian with tamil ethnicity, but i also have iranian blood, since our ancestors fled iran after the fall of the sunni kingdom in 15th century (i guess but not sure).my community came from shiraz and kerman proviences.so i would like to see more city pictures of both siraz and kerman cities and their surrounding landscapes.

if you guys visit india , please do visit tamilnadu and especially southern tamilnadu.it is a very beautiful place ranging from desert like environment to thick evergreen forest in just 150 to 200 km range.

That's interesting, mohamed.

In Shiraz though, you will find many mausoleums dedicated to Sufi poets. They seemed to be a lot in that city.

A lot of Sunnis fled Iran also prior to or after the Shii'te revolution of 1979, and they were pretty smart in fleeing.. it's not so good for them over there.
