BTW, the completion date is due to late 2006 because Al Jazira Stadium will be hosting the Gulf Cup 18 opening ceremony in Jan 2007.

Edara appointed as project manager for Al Jazira Stadium new towers

Edara, one of Dubai's most successful project management companies and a wholly owned subsidiary of Union Properties, has been given the responsibility of being project manager of the two new towers located at the North and East corners of Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium.

Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium.

This comes following the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, President of Al Jazira Sports & Cultural Club and Vice President of the Honorary Board. The deadline for completion of this project has been set for 22 months.

Spread over 2200 square meters and overlooking Al Jazira Club Stadium, the total cost of the two, new 15 storey towers accounts to AED 130 million. One of the two towers will solely serve as commercial office space, while the other will comprise luxurious residential apartments. The timeframe for completion as stated in the agreement is 22 months, effective from the beginning of next July 2007- being the project commencement date.

Mr. Abdulrazaq Al Jassim, Chief Executive Officer, Al Jazira Sports & Cultural Club, signed the agreement, alongside with Mr. Adel Lootah, General Manager of Edara who will be in charge of supervising both the project's major consultant and the contractor, to ensure the implementation of all the related details. This project comes in harmony with the stadium expansion plans, strategically located in Abu Dhabi.

Mr. Al Jassim assured that the project is only the beginning of a series of wide investment projects in a bid to fulfill the visions and prospects of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Mr. Al Jassim also expressed that this new project is part of an ambitious strategy set up to upgrade and develop the club's facilities within the next few years. One of the main focus areas will be hosting camps for sports teams and providing them with a wide range of services. The club has recently organized two successful camps for Cote d'Ivoire and Dynamo Kiev teams.

This project was preceded by the opening and full functioning of the 4 star, 75 room Al Jazira Club Hotel, offering high quality services for both short and long term stays, including internet access, high-tech equipments, a wide selection of 5 star restaurants, special hospitality features, playgrounds as well as a full-fledged gymnasium.

Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Adel Lootah, General Manager, Edara declared, 'Edara is keen on continuously expanding its project portfolio across the UAE. We have been responsible for developing several major projects in the United Arab Emirates.

'The Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium Towers Project is the third project handled by Edara in the capital city, Abu Dhabi. This is only a start to our quest to expand our scale of business in this booming city'. Added Mr. Lootah.

Edara have a proven track record of solid cooperation with its clients, which can be seen clearly through their many previous major achievements.

The construction of Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium is progressing very rapidly with the first stage expected to be completed by next September, featuring a stadium with 20,000 viewers capacity. Finally, the Official Opening is scheduled for mid-December. By the beginning of 2007, the stadium will be all set to host the GCC Championship - One the largest events and championships in the Arab world.
