I'm a bit surprised. I knew that Brazil was somewhat progressive in terms of gay rights but surprised with that turnout.

WOW - Gr8 pics and this surely places SAO on the pink map
Pride parades have failed dismally in South African Cities and I have to still experience a pride parade in Auckland but I am sure that it won't be anything like this.

Wow... that does look like a whole lot of fun! Really need to visit Brazil some day...
Johannesburg gets about 10000 people at their annual parades. And the organisers never seem to do a good job in organising it! But hopefully we'll get the Gay Games in 2010, and that'll definitely be a huge success!

Really...I always thought of Brazil as a very open-minded kinda place. And they do love an excuse for a street party...gay or not. KGB |

I missed it the pre-last year but it must be great - even if I am not gay. I Don't know why it's so underrated - it's the biggest street parade in the world - apart from that it's a gay parade, - they have more people dancing in the street than Berlin and Zurich parades together.

The Brazilian Supreme Court's decision to award same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexuals is a landmark step for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in the country. The Supreme Court ruling recognises the rights of same-sex couples to pension, inheritance and adoption. Same sex adoption in Brazil is leagl according to the Superior Court of Justice of Brazil as stated in a court decision on April 27, 2010.
