Small Town UK - Grantham, My Town, PART 2

I went down town today….and took 150 pictures….here are some of them

Thermometer in my car, it actually hit 28’C

Street, Trees, Scooter

Sainburys…you saw the inside in the last thread.

Siam Gardens….nice restaurant…the place was closed, and some Thais had a right go at me.

The place was called ‘Fat Lous’….and was a New York style place, it had a 10ft mock of the statue of liberty in the pond….nobody could finish one of their meals…just too big.

Fish and Chip Shops….actually both of these are run by Cypriots.

The Salvation Army’s Fort.

Funny Pub Name

Adult Store…Mates and I have gone on and on about how there wasn’t a sex shop in town…its been there 4 months now and all of us are too scared to go in

Tollemache…I learnt his name

Inside the museum…Isaac Newton section….there was so much of the museum I have missed out on here.

Thatcher….she was born here ya know.

An actual puppet used in the TV show ‘Spitting Image’

Arts Centre

Ol’ Issac

Tanning

Reminds me of New Orleans this building

Distance Shot

A little busier than last time

Old Grantham Pics…and Funny Street name.

Morrison Fish Mongers

Tourist map…and what probably is another funny street name….but I don’t get it.

Mosaic outside Woolworths…more of these I say, I love it.

feck it that'll do for now....how manys that....27 so far

Wasn't sure what to expect when I clicked on this thread. I've heard of Grantham before but have no idea where it is exactly. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by these photos as you've selected some interesting parts of the town and the place comes across as being full of 'English charm and character'.

It looks a really, really nice town, eddyk. One thing about the UK, you always seem, in certain places at least, to be good at retaining history. Which is a lot more than can be said about so many other places.

looks like a great little town. the first set of pictures remind me of a canadian town. what's the landscape like over there? are you close to the beach? is the countryside rolling farmland? is it a low area, with swamps? is ti heavily forested?

I SHALL say, QUITE remarkable. <pun>

Really, though..... this largely surpassed my expectation. Had no idea about Newton and Thatcher. If I could hitchhike to the U.K., I would in an instant.

Very nice, it does look a little like small Ontario towns here in Canada. Even the landscape is similar. I like it.

'this lady's not for the turning'

Great Pics, I used to live down the road in Sleaford. Its not a complaint as such but did I miss the picture of the grocers shop in which Margaret Thatcher was brought up?. Her most famous quote, 'this lady's not for the turning.'
