It looks as good as it only could. Bright elevation, nice big windows with sticking out window frames and stairway kept as it was ...
I would like to have such a modernisations of bunkers here in Poland too.

The reason they didn't do that is because they wanted there to be a clear contrast between old and new. They wanted people to know they put in the windows later. If you'd make the big windows "fit in" with the rest of the building, some people will see it as a falsification of history.

^ This approach of "something new has to look new" in heritage protection is to blame for many, many really bad renovations and modernist additions. I say: screw this Dehio and Athens Charter crap.

As in earlier times, if you add something to a classical building, add something that is classical as well (something Gothic can blend really well with Neo-Renaissance actually).
