You'd think they would have changed the windows, though.

Looks like some were changed out, but they for whatever reason they didn't re-paint one of them

Legionowo, Poland

This building was constructed in 1892 as a casino for soldiers. It was used until the 90s. For years it was neglected and vandalised. In 2011-2012 it was moved. Now it has been renovated. It will now serve as one of the buildings of the local museum.

I wonder how much of the original substance survived the fires and neglectment. My guess is only the chimneys and other non-wooden elements.

Yeah, it's really nice in real life. However, I can still think of a few ways they could improve.

Toronto is definitely getting better. Having said that, I find it utterly ridiculous that a city the size of Toronto does not have a proper pedestrian street. By this I mean a street that is centrally located and seamlessly connected to other downtown streets, with cafes, restaurants, shops, and a very lively atmosphere. For those of you who know this city, I don't mean something like the Distillery District.
Unfortunately, Canadian and American cities have traditionally been built for cars and are far from being pedestrian friendly, although things seem to be changing (slowly).

there used to be an amazing Yonge Street Mall which closed the street from King to Gerrard for a few weeks in the summer. How progressive we were. Any attempts to revive it have been dashed by the Region of York bowing to the voracious automobile.
