Yes absolutely. Good architecture is not only about design but it includes materials as well. Brick, Stone and Wood (all natural materials) can totally change the aesthetics of quite banal buildings. The problem with most current "modern" buildings is the constant use of glass and steel which can't mellow with age and can never look as good.

Seems like they just covered it with styrofoam and painted without any regard for the original brutalist architecture, which was probably the cheapest option.
The colors are fine and it's nice how the new windows have dark frames but it's still a devastation

UK in general does a pretty poor job with conserving it's modernist heritage, they could learn a lot from the Germans in this regard.
