So I found a few more interesting sites that might be of interest here.

Mausoleum of Timur Shah Durrani, Kabul (tomb) (built: 1816)

The second ruler of the Durrani Empire (also known as the Last Afghan Empire), his reign saw the transfer of the main capital from Kandahar to Kabul. After decades of civil war and neglect, the mausoleum was finally restored in 2012.

Yu Aw Synagogue, Herat (Built: 1788-1808)

One of the very few surviving traces of Jewish heritage in Afghanistan, the Yu Aw Synagogue was abandoned during the mid-20th century and was left in disrepair. Today, the building is now a children's school.

And another recently discovered thing:

Old Port Gate, Mogadishu (structure) (built: 15th-16th century)

Once an entrance way to the port district, the gate was later conserved during the colonial era. As with the city, the structure was heavily damaged during the civil war and is now under reconstruction.

Great floor heights. One of the best parts about office buildings converted to residential.

Badi Baoli, Hyderabad (step-well) (built: 16th-17th century)

A part of the Qutb Shahi mausoleum complex, the step-well partially collapsed in 2013 after centuries of neglect and decay. Now, there is a ten-year plan to restore and conserve the entire necropolis and bring back its splendour, starting with the Badi Baoli.

Cardiff bay 25 years of regeneration, from abandoned scrubby docklands, revealing mud flats when the tide goes out, to modern and popular waterside that is not subject to the tides.

Azimganj Serai, India (bazaar) (Built: 16th century)

With over 100 rooms, this structure was the oldest of it's kind in Mughal Delhi. Despite it being located within the Delhi Zoo grounds, the serai's close location to the Sunder Nursery and Emperor Humayun's tomb complex makes it a target for conservationists.

It is hoped that the Azimganj Serai would be reused as a modern bazaar after restoration.

And here's a short documentary on how Emperor Humayun's tomb itself is conserved.
