Oh it surely looks much better now. Not only it seems the facade was cleaned, but the new windows make the whole building more inviting and open.

Progress on external renovations for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow

The spire was completely reconstructed too. Hope one day they will install central AC and get rid of those ugly boxes.

Why would anyone need AC in Russia?

Like in Canada, it can get really hot in the summer.

^ Those facades and that copper(?) roof look so plastic, it feels like a theme park building.

I'm glad the old building was saved (an old manor house?), but on the other hand I hope it gets to see a proper authentic renovation some day.

It doesn't feel cheap, copper is a quality material seen on many prominent structures like palaces or churches but it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of this building, mostly because of it's shape. Also remember that it should be green soon and not very shiny.

So they destroyed that commie building and replaced it by a public plaza, or is it in another angle?

What's with the glass boxes, are there archaeological structures underneath?
