Wesel, Rathaus

Wesel, Germany

http://www.historisches-rathaus-wese...d=89&Itemid=67

The city reconstructed the in WWII bombed Rathaus at the marketplace behind the Willibrordidom. It sure is an impressive building and I think it is one of the most beautiful townhall's in Germany. The architect who made the design for the reconstruction of the Rathaus also has some plans to place some reconstructions opposite the Rathaus

These are so beautiful, but I have a question, how are the buildings and carvings financed?

Zgorzelec has done a fantastic transformation (at least from what was shown). Poland is the biggest construction site in Europe at the moment.

I've only discovered this thread now and it's become my favourite one! Mainly because I was able to see numerous examples of fantastic revitalisation projects done in my homeland, Poland, however viewing pics from other countries was an aesthetic feast as well.

I'm delighted that the projects in Poland appear to have been so varied - larger cities, smaller towns, urban and rural areas. It all enables to duly expose Poland's diversity and beauty, after decades of architectural mediocrity and under-investment in the times of socialism (although some reconstruction works carried out at the time were certainly good, e.g. development of almost completely ruined cities like Wrocław or Gdańsk).

Thank you.
