Some of you may be surprised by the combination of colors used... But it is exaxctly how it was in XIXth century - Łódź was an industrial city full of smoke and fumes from plants, so to keep elevations in acceptable state for a longer time, architects used more intensive colors.

God damn, these reconstructions are absolutely beautiful. Theres some restorations going on in our cities here in America, but hardly any of the quality of the ones Ive seen in this thread.

Thanks for the interesting history of this beautiful bridge. When I was there about 18 months ago it was still under restoration and I did not realise how wonderful it would look when finished.
Hope the economic situation does not halt further restorations in this marvellous city, one of my favourite places in the world.
