The city of Klaipėda (Memel) in Lithuania has undergone, quite literally, a massive restoration in the last 5 to 6 years. From streets and squares to old buildings and marinas.

Danė river banks and the old castle port - a few kilometers of commie style concrete waterfront and neglected old buildings around it were refurbished and brought back to life.

In general, the old part of Klaipėda is now in a very decent shape. A few well restored random streets in the Old Town:

^ What happened to that last tower? Looks plain and simplified, absolutely wrong in some way.

I was curious about it and I checked it out.
After the fire at the city hall tower in 1929 the tower was rebuilt in modern form. Used in the construction and preserved until today reinforced concrete construction was one of the first of this type in Lower Silesia.

Everything that's made of concrete looks cool to you, Illuminat.
