If you look closer at some buildings on Długi Targ in Gdańsk you'll actually find a lots of nice 1950' style decorations, mostly paintings and sgraffito. They are rather non-invasive so most people don't even notice anything out of place.

Yes, it's the same heigth as the old tower which stood there before. Also they reconstructed a small house which stood next to the tower The church I personally think is not so nice to see....

But it's a nice reconstruction More cities in The Netherlands should rebuild their old stuff........

They want to rebuild the spire but in 'modern' style....Means it's going to be glass, steel and something with some museum in it of a artistic (I mean crap) person

Here's a link Give your opinion about it :
http://www.nikolaikircheanklam.de/Ni...rche/index.htm
It's at the right under the title Der Flyer

But I don't think the tower is going to be a 'Wiederaufbau'

In Nijmegen, the Netherlands, the locals are going to rebuild the 'Donjon': an destructed massive tower which stood on the Valkhof, a place where once stood a giant castle, and where today only the Nicholas Chapel, the ruines Barbaros Chapel and some walls are left......

Here some impressions :

Seen from the Waal

The iron 'reconstruction' of the Donjon in 2005

How it's going to be

Wroclaw/Breslau seems to be amazingly beautiful.

Beeing a lover of the city of Leipzig/Lipsk (that has in some quarters lots of similarities to Breslau) and of Saxony in general I think that Saxony, Silesia and Bohemia do have lots in common and are to some extent the quintessence of "Mitteleuropa", at least imho!

Adding that coyote ugly piece of crap atop that building will negate all the good work they've done thus far.

What the hell were they thinking about???

Well, it might end up looking fine. They added a neo-Baroque (I'll say inspired) spire on the cathedral in Szczecin and it actually fits in well with the city considering it's mish-mash state.

About some museum for an 'famous' artist which was born in Anklam.....
If they just rebuild the old spire it'll be something to look at without the fact that your eyes burn away.....

yes I agree, but I wonder what they will do with the corner lot next to it - something contemporary would be good.

Or reconstructing whatever used to be there might be better.

That of course would depend on what used to be there
