I love the paved streets. We sold most of our paves to the Germans in the 90s: Bulgarian ingenuity.

It's great to see the renovations done in Krakow, but with that a question arises: Do any of these renovations break UNESCO rules? I ask because when renovation was being done in the centre in Lviv, UNESCO was screaming that we were violating rules replacing the old tiles with new ones. I see the same configuration in Krakow though.

No - fortunately I haven't heard anything about breaking UNESCO rules.

If You are interested in Krakow's main market renovation, here's a link (unfortunately it's in Polish - but there are some interesting photos) :

bonus photo - Krakow New Year's Eve 2005/2006 - this year should be similar :

Pavlo, UNESCO wasn't "screaming" anything. Some people were. We discussed this in the Ukrainian forum: http://skyscrapercity.com/showthread...=257387&page=9 (in English)

I particularly cannot wait for hte completion of the 'Maly Rynek' renovation. It was used as a parking lot for a long time...not this will change and it will become another tourist attraction where ppl will be able to relax, drink, eat, and enjoy beuatiful Krakow. It will also serve as the main concert area (whenever three will be concerts or new years party etc.) This is where such happenings will take place as opposed to the main Rynek.

Just love those stylish streetlights. After renovation Krakowskie Przedmieście will look like a beautifully wrapped candy.
