It is not a minimum but maximum and somewhere the maximum has to be set. 20.000 is € 1.700 month brutto.
And thats not more than 1.200 € netto

1.200 €
- Rent (small one bedroom flat in the subs warm rent 500-600€ or flatsharing in city center the same rent)
- voluntary but actually "have to" insurances (casualty, occupational disability, annuity assurance) approx 100€ (depends on job)
- Phone/internet 40€
- Public transport ticket if necessary 50€
is 100 € a week to live

thats not much in Hamburg

Some News from this developent Area.

First of all the competition for two construction plots in the northern "Überseequartier" is over.
Winner for Plot 34/15 is
www.nalbach-architekten.de (picture taken from)
I did not find a bigger render. As soon as I find it I will post it

Second price goes to
http://bof-architekten.de/

For the construction plot 34/16 the winner is not announced, yet - but I found a
render of a participating Architecture office which I quitle like
http://resp.schenk-waiblinger.de

...................................................................................................................

Further the northern part of the Dar es Salaam Sqaure is finished. The winning design for slot 34/15 of the nalbach
architects will be rise in front of the white buildings in the backround and next to the red-black building across the street (picture:me)

............................

The Cinnamon Midrise (ca. 60 m) is growing fast now

............................

Some days ago user Flor!an took some pictures of the construction progress of the Elbarkaden
and the eastern Parts of the HafenCity

The Ameron Hotel Group is currently refurbishing an old building in the warehousedistrict facing the HafenCity.

The flap-bridge you see in this picture down left ...

... is considered to be too small. And hell, yes! She is. So a new bigger bridge will be placed there. Unfortunately its again
10 Million € more for the Philharmony (bridge+EP are considered to be one project) and the Kaiserkai Street will be a dead
end road for at least one year ...

That's it for today. Bye

Did a Boat trip in 2006, amazing to see how this rich cultural place is developing into something nice and sustainable for the future.

overall the high-water concept of the hafencity worked out very well. It was the second highest flood in Hamburgs history, but the damage is a minor one.

Situaton Friday midday after first two Stormflood waves

The Yoko building pit is under water

Areas around the Elbarkaden are flooded, here the water climbt over the quay wall

Streets to baakenhafen quarter were still closed

Here in the night all areas right side of the wall got flooded

some parts of the baakenhafen have been still under water, because it could not drain off

The fences at the Unlilever Building did not fall in wind, but from water. This area was also flooded

Stairs to Marco Polo Terraces

dark and wet color markes the peak at this crane

flotsam markes the peak at the stairs to the Elbe Philharmonic

In the night the third wave arrived, but it was less high, so the HC did not get closed. I could take some pictures

of course lower parts got flooded a third time, but thats what they are expected

Overall the HafenCity suffered some minor damage at the construction yards. Finished areas with compleated high water defense stayed dry, execpt the areas expected to get flooded from time to time. The High Water concept of the HC obviously works

Actually it won't. The flood management was properly executed by Northern German engineers, we know how to deal with this shit. Damages are really minor.

Hafencity is really proving itself as a sustainable city of the future!!! We really need to learn that here! Last year's Hurricane Sandy with just as high of water, with waves, erased whole communities and many are still not back. There, it was business as usual only a day or 2 later!

Hamburg drawned in 1962. Since then a lot was learned and changed here.

Nice picture set when the flood reached the peak-level.

Happy new year.
Big fat Hafencity update follows:

First of all. Surprisigly we had no proper render of the planed
Science Center, yet. Time to fix that. It is an old render, but still okay.
Stuff around the center are render-dummies

I noticed this kind of preparation is pretty common across the 'high risk' areas
