That's good to hear. Too bad the design is kind of meh. Any idea on what the projects between these towers and the station are going to be like? I remember seeing some renders posted around the construction site.

It's indeed a standard Japanese Tower Block design, not really exiting.
The site between the towers and the station will be the 2nd stage of the project, and that's basically all the info there is about it on the web. I could only find one picture from 2007, it looks more promising but it might be outdated. risecity.blog93.fc2.com/blog-entry-77.html |

Most Japanese projects start of with the name of the redeveloped block/area and only have a real name later on when the building is already U/C or even completed.
Otemachi 1-6 Plan (199,7m) & Marunouchi 1-4 Plan (150m) (info p.12 & 13) Otemachi 1-6 plan is now officially under construction since 11/30. They released a more realistic picture of the design, the previous (on p.12) was a bit stretched. It will have 6 underground stories, unless it will have top down construction it will take some time to see this one actually rise. Espicially with the scheduled completion date is 2014, we got to have patience with this tower. But when it's finished the Aman resorts group will open up the "AMAN TOKYO" luxury hotel on the top floors. http://www.nejinews.co.jp/news/busin...e/eid2775.html Marunouchi 1-4 Plan, many cranes working on the foundation. This one will go much faster as it should be completed in September 2011 pictures: building-pc.cocolog-nifty.com/helicopter/ With these towers and the JP Tower the skyline around Tokyo Station will become even more dense than it's already is. |

Nishi-Shinjuku 8-chome project seems to go up at a nice pace.
An right next to it we should soon see the Kita-Shinjuku Area Redevelopment Plan Office Tower (166.50m) coming up, the cranes are already pretty high. bluestyle.livedoor.biz/ |

Hachioji isn't an area of Tokyo I expected to have buildings over 40 levels high. Is this going to be the tallest building in Tokyo west of Tachikawa?

Yes, it will be the highest building in Tokyo outside the 23 special wards, the second tallest is a 118m high residential in Chofu.

Kachidoki View Tower (192,20m) & Kachidoki 1-chome Area Project (160m)
The Kachidoki View Tower (Kachidoki Station Front Redevelopment Project) looks topped out and the 1-chome area tower goes up quickly. OWL TOWER (アウルタワー) (189,20m) (info post #235)
The tower on the left is 150m high, about 40 more meters to go for the Owl Tower. bluestyle.livedoor.biz/ One more for: Awajicho 2-chome West Area North Section (164.80m) (post 240) Demolition will take until June. Kita-Shinjuku Area Redevelopment Plan Office Tower (166.50m) (info post #234) After it's 198.20m high neighbour started to grow (as you can see in the back) recently this one is going up right now. I don't know much about that park, but that clean-looking midrise building is sure gonna be missed. I don't know much about that building, either.
