GN is starting to push into the skyline
![]() Though not as much as its neighbour at the end of Deansgate ![]() (any idea why that overgrown railway track still has a working signal)

Stunning pictures!
Love the slope of this building. Its elegant in every way in which 'The Edge' is not. I await to see how the roof terraces turn out which is really where The Edge towers start to look messy. |

Great pictures DJ - view of Beetham from Salford Sainsbo's area is my favourite - looks soooo skinny.

This will and already has become a gem to Manchester... It may never have a true spotlight on the skyline being overshadowed by Beetham and with much taller buildings going up in the near future.. But from Street level, this will be one of the most awe-inspiring of recent developments.. That cladding has come out far better than I (and most others) ever imagined.. And Wimpey have done us proud.

Judging from the cladding I've seen in the latest construction pics maybe I should have given this 9/10

Not too long now
That pic from St Johns Gardens is really classy. It can't be much longer now till the tower tops out if you look at the angle of the lower slope.

Quality
A quality building in a quality location. It just seems right for the area. If Beetham wasn't going up I'm positive this would get the attention it deserves (of course I still love Beetham
)

Nope, if you look at the render, you'll see that the highest points far exceeds the slope

Sorry if you found it irritating Jerv. It's just that we often see developments that feature a number of new buildings, yet architects or their clients seem to want individual buildings that are different and distinct. I'd be interested to see multiple buildings that can pass for a single structure and add up to something greater than the sum of the parts. Sure, not in every case, but IMHO there's something exciting and statuesque about the sort of grandeur and symmetry that can result. IAL are doing something down Chester Road way of this ilk, and Broadway Malyan are maybe missing a trick in Ancoats. Yep, I know GN Tower is a single building and it doesn't apply here, but that picture really made me think and I guess I've grown to like it a lot.
