I know it could be lil confusing. But, Vijayawada and Vizag are two different cities. Maybe you were thinking “aren’t Bezawada and Vizag the same?”. Again, you are wrong Bezawada is another name for Vijayawada. So, again two different cities. If you are thinking “hey, wait a tick, I thought Vizag is short name for Visakhapatnam?” Yeah, you are right this time. Just to be complete, Visakhapatnam(a.k.a Vizag) is also called by Visakha and Waltair.

Guntur to Vijayawada Stretch, the road was 2 lane for few KMs. I think not exactly NH 5, it is bye-pass stretch of Nh 5.

Vishakhapatnam is popularly known as Waltair in places like Raipur, Bilaspur etc. in Chattisgarh. To make it easy to pronounce, it is called Vizag which is totally a different city. (Similarly, Johannesburg city(South Africa) is called Joburg = J'burg in written form)

It is part of National Highway 9 : Hyderabad to Vijayawada route.
It is a bypass of some small town. As you can see in the photo there is a 140 ft Lord Anjaneya's statue.
60 odd kilometers from Vijayawada is four laned. Small towns are bypassed with 2 laned roads like the ones in the pic.

It is indeed a scenic drive, with kondapalli hills on the side.

The railway station in Visakhapatnam used to be called as WALTAIR junction. Can someone confirm the name still remains the same or has been changed?

It is a four lane highway in this part also.
the two lanes towards Vijayawada are a few meters away from this place.
the highway was split in such a way that the two lanes going towards VJA and the lanes towards HYD fall on either sides of the village.
