Nice update into the bowels of construction.

Last picture.. It's a big ship with life boats hanging off the side.

Do you know what those redish basket things are?

Do they catch the occasional errant iron worker who had a liquid lunch?

Wow, Victor, you are doing our chicago forumers a big favor with the VIP style! Are you working with them in order to get these interior shots?
You are good!

Okay Vic... you've got to do me a favor. I've bugged every professor at UIC for an answer to the following question (all to no avail):

Why oh why is the falsework still in place on the lower floors?!?!? It's been months since they were poured... more than long enough for the concrete to have cured to near its ultimate strength. When, exactly, will it be removed!? I don't expect you to know the answer... but, maybe you can use your Inspector Gadget ways to find out?

It's apart of the rising hydrolic formwork system.

Maybe this is a better explaination.

From kayosthery at SSP: Jr will be able to tell you if there are hydraulic jacks on those platforms, but slip forms is not the correct term. They are either self-rising by use of the hydraulic jacks or they are jumped up each floor with the tower cranes. Slip forming is typically used in water treatement plants or highway crashwalls where you want the added strength and seamless/watertight finish of one continuous slow pour.

The top level of those platforms will be used by ironworkers and carpenters to tie the steel and frame perimeter columns and beams. The middle and bottom levels are used by the carpenters to jump the form and by finishers to chip, grind, and rub the columns.

From JuniorReb at SSP: The tables on the side have jacks on them. Hydralic. or however you spell it. They will rise with the building and also enclose the building with a screen.

What if a developer just wanted to say "90% sold." Would that violate laws established for open and honest real estate marketing?

I mention these points because Trump put his foot in his mouth on several occasions with his New York projects. He claimed higher "% sold" than was the truth. He made more than one sales agent chuckle (or more likely, cringe).

What do they do when they remove the cranes at the end...isn't there going to be a square hole of the crane footprint all the way down?

My end of the month update. I'm assuming the 7th floor will be poured in the next week.

Great pics throught this tread.

I noticed that the red form cages 'lifeboats' are the same as are being used on the service core of thr new comcast tower in Philly.
