I was wondering, how long did it take for the foundation work on this tower to be finished? Being such a beast (height-wise) and right on the river, I would have thought that they would need to do some serious reinforcement of the riverbank. But it seems like it sprung right out of the ground.

IIRC they did over 9 months of foundation work. I might be wrong.

[QUOTE=wickedestcity]http://www.chicagobusiness.com/cgi-bin/news.pl?id=20927

(Crain’s) — The firm developing Donald Trump’s 90-story skyscraper on the Chicago River filed a lawsuit against three labor organizations claiming they violated a labor agreement last week when union workers walked off the job.

The union “failed to utilize its disciplinary authority to compel the employees to return to work on a timely basis,” the complaint says. QUOTE]

I have a few pictures of my own. Taken Thursday June 28, 2006

View of the construction site from the 20th floor of IBM Plaza - 2006-6-28

Someone before asked why was there a change in the thickness of the floor plates at the edge of the building. The answer to that question, is because in these areas, the floorplates act as beams. The span between columns in this part of the building is 60'

I just noticed that they have begun to add the louvers to the building. Here's an image that I snapped 30 minutes ago.

I'm going to be showing off my ignorance, but what are louvers?

Also, does anyone else get the feeling of dawning elegance as this building rises? Everytime I pass by the construction site and see one more floor added on, the immenseness of this building's height coupled with the pronounced curves is... wow. Something that wasn't really captured in the renderings but is truly something to behold.
