Nice! I was wondering what they were going to do to that.

Hrmm... not sure why they didn't just use spandrel panels to match the glazing on the rest of the tower. Not sure how I'm going to feel about the collision of three different facade treatments at the base.

Does anyone think that the recent slow down in high end sales in the Trumps is because those "high end" investors are awaiting the construction of the Spire? Or is it just because the housing market is simply slumping overall? Especially in the high end sector.

I think there's too much product right now. However, there's not enough projects like 235 W Van Buren, thats what hot right now. For some reason, it seems to me that the developers are still trying to put highend projects in the market.

^ I agree with boris. A lot has been built in a short period of time, and specifically, the job market hasn't caught up to the residential market. There just aren't enough jobs coinciding with people willing to move into the city, but just give the market some time to catch up to all this construction.

yes, there is a slow down in residential, but Trump is priced at an entirely different level. They are pricing their units for a different market place, above even high-end Chicago prices.

The Spire is/will be the only price competitor for Trump... but the build costs are WILDLY different. Trump is being built on the cheap. Considering the unprecedented form of the Spire, it is hard to imagine what it will cost to build.

^ This view is going to be one of the most awesome money shots once the tower has topped out.

I think the glass on the parking ramps is terrible. Looks cloudy and dirty to me. In fact, it looks like the dirty river water. Doesn't seem to go with the luxury theme.

Yes it has, ZZ-II. These pictures were taken exactly seven weeks apart. The first is from June 1 and the second is from April 13. It's not much, but at least it's moving again.
