Call me crazy, but the glass looks substantially better than initially reported.

Check out this article in today's Trib -- interesting times to come, I think.

Towering troubles?
By Kathy Bergen and Susan Diesenhouse | Tribune staff reporters
December 2, 2007

The acid test is just about to begin.

As soon as Trump International Hotel & Tower, the city's first new-construction condo-hotel, gets a city permit to begin its phased opening, developer Donald Trump will find out for sure whether Midwesterners and others are willing to fork over megabucks to buy a pad in his luxury inn.

Though hawking a killer brand at a killer site, the flamboyant salesman is aiming to ink sales at a time when the residential real estate market is plummeting and the once-hot condo-hotel trend continues to chill....

Well, I think the thing that's being ignored here is that the market TTC is aimed at isn't your typical condo-buyer. The ultra-luxury market is much more resilient to recession than normal - it will take a lot more than lousy interest rates and lots of foreclosures to scare off the super-wealthy.

Agreed. I don't think Trump's project here will be in much trouble (but he may end up owning more hotel rooms for longer than he'd wanted to).

They guys in trouble are the other hotel condo projects. The ones that aren't out of the ground may not get started.

Actually, the guys in more trouble are the ones under construction who may have trouble selling the hotel condos and/or closing the ones that are aready "sold".

For all of you who have been wondering why elevation of the floors has stalled for the last month or so, it is in preparation of the final set-back. This floor requires extensive form engineering, and rebar bracing. People have been asking me if the rising had stalled because of bovis's failed attempts at occupancy permits, just letting you all know thats not the reason.

06wt....Thank you for that info. I think that most of us have been following the skyscraper page.com which keeps us informed on this issue. Do you know when you will start pouring the next level of the upper portion?

Well, it looks like this Trump Tower will come out very well. Unlike some of Trump's other projects (ie: Tampa, which has not and may never be built )

Based on the fact that this is the final set back, is it safe to say that the building is at about the 50th floor?
