American fine dining is the best way I can put the description of the menu. There is a tasting menu, ranging from $85-150. I didnt really look at the offerings on that because I knew I wasn't going to get it. My brother's girlfriend and I both had the fillet ($38), my brother had the trio of pork ($34) and my girlfriend had the lamb loin ($41)....I actually though the lamb was the best, and my fillet was disappointingly not that great, but still good.

The desserts were also not great. I had a praline and banana number with some lime ice cream. 6.5/10.

Overall the tab was $305 for the 4 of us, before tip. We each had a drink, entree, and dessert.

The service was excellent. Overall it was very expensive and the food did not blow me away, but to be there on opening night when they are still pouring concrete on the upper floors was really cool. I will go back for a cheese platter they had ($14 per person) that my girlfriend really wanted to try.

Hope you left a $65 dollar tip at the least

Is nobody else intrigued by what appears to be a new traffic signal bagged-over in that last picture? I sincerely hope they're not considering tinkering with the traffic flow on Wabash AGAIN. That signal would indicate to me that their either making the stretch from Lake to Wacker one-way (southbound) or they're going to make some portion between Randolph and Lake into a two-way street. As it is, I've never seen a street turn from one-way to two-way traffic so many times in such a short stretch as Wabash already does.

Thoughts?

2 deg F/-17 deg C; about thirty seconds to shoot before the fingers froze up. Next time, I'll wear gloves. Wabash & Wacker, 2/10/08:

Look closely & you can make out the shadow of Mather Tower on Trump's skin.

^Love that perspective (with your excellent quality and depth of course). It really makes Trump Tower seem like the awesomely tall beast that it is (and is going to be even more so).

i think i was originally biased against this building because of 'the donald', but i have to say it's a really tasteful, elegant and very well executed building.

Its refreshing to hear someone leave their biases of a person aside and express their opinion on the building itself.

I really wonder what the opinions would be if the Waldorf and Trump names were refersed for the respective buildings. (for example) I bet we get a few saying Trump is just trying to upstage the Spire, but instead the W=A has gotten nothing but praise. (as it should )

Thanks for the photos Wrabbit. I like the Metra train arriving at the north GP terminal. Reminds me of the old pix when GP was a giant rail yard.

So, I went up to Lake and Wabash again last night and there is now ANOTHER traffic signal covered, temporarily, with a bag. It is also pointed south. So, does anyone know why they're changing the traffic flow? Or, how much of Wabash is going to be effected to the south, for that matter?

What does this have to with Trump Tower? It would seem to me to be more connected to Wabash streetscaping improvements, which require temporary lane closures for the repainting.

Well, since I think it's a direct result of Trump's arrival, I would argue that it has everything to do with the Tower. I'm not sure where you're going with the lane-closure theory, though, because I don't see how that would require a reversal of traffic from southbound to northbound.

Here are some shots of Trump I took during my first visit to Chicago this weekend. I gotta say, I love the city!
