London Bridge Tower u/c?

Look at this photo, that I took when I was in London recently. You can see huge cranes at the same site near Thames and Guys Hospital. Has this something to do with the preperation of London Bridge Tower? If not, what is it then?

You can see they haven't torn Southwark Towers down yet, that should be done before beginning construction if I understand it right.

There are no news about it since February on the official site:

If I remember correctly I answered this question for you the other day mate, they were cranes for the More London offices, that are currently under construction.

It'd be very hard for them to start building LBT now, especially considering there is still a 100m tall tower on its plot of land :P

quite a while considering they have to undertake the largest, well tallest demolition job in the UK. A 100m tower has to come down.

Will be lucky to see it finished in 2010, but its impact on the skyline will come much earlier, much like Swiss Re.

just to say these More London buildings are quite significant. The quicker they are finished, the earlier we will see Heron Tower, as the tenants of the current building will be moving into More London.

The thing you have to appreciate with LBT is that the project is definitely moving forward. Tenants are being secured, the current site has a firm schedule for vacation and demolition, the public and local residents seem to be behind it, and the developers are still fully committed. True, it's still years away from completion, but I have a lot more confidence in this project than some of the other planned skyscrapers for London.

Demolition will start in summer 2006, and take 12 months.

So we're looking at a Summer 2007 start date?

Day-um.

I think the most likely skyscrapers to start construction this year are the Broadgate Tower (165m) and St George's Wharf (181m).

Millharbour (140m) could also get going soon.
