While the Chrysler building is arguably the most attractive, elegant, beautiful building in the city and possibly the world, I still have to go with the Empire State Building. The Empire State Building not only toppled the Chrysler building in height among it's completion, it toppled it as the king of the city, the number one symbol.

The Empire State Building is a representation of NYC itself. It was completed quickly in record time, it has gone through the ups and downs with the city, even being called the "Empty State Building" at one point, it has so much history and value, which no skyscraper can compare to, including the Chrysler building.

The ESB sitting right smack in the middle of the city, at it's heart, beating and pumping life everyday, you can't even imagine NYC without it. I can't even begin to think about the skyline without the king, the ESB rising as the centerpiece. I mean it's natural, when you think NYC one of the things that first comes to mind is Empire State Building for everyone.

I think a lot of voters are too caught up in looks, and looks only! No offense, of course, but there's so much more to be taken into account (no, not just height). The ESB is a living legend.

Although I do like the Chrysler Bldg, it only held its title for less than a year before the ESB would surpass it as well as all other buildings around the world.

It's too bad that after WWII, the price of bricks went up, and made them expensive to use. As a result, bricks could no longer be used on skyscrapers like the ES/Chrysler Bldgs. From then on, glass, steel clading, and concrete replaced skyscrapers for exteriors.

ESB for sure, Chrysler is maybe more beautifull, but something attracts me to vote for the ESB, so I did so.

I'm sorry, ESB might be a more impressive landmark for NYC but I'll take Chrysler Tower over it just because of preference.

I think from the spire down, Chrysler is actually quite ugly. Its really only the top that does it for me. It also gets a bit lost in the midtown cluster where ESB is left out more or less on its own. I'm not gonna vote on this because, to me, they are both beautiful and ugly in different ways... and they both hold their own little story.

Here's to the person who wanted some pics..... from my trip in April.
