Some Binghamton, NY pics

Thought I'd bore you all with some pics I took this spring in Binghamton, NY (pop~47,000, metro about 200,000). I won't add too much commentary, they kind of speak for themselves.

I went up in the State Office Tower to see a model of the proposed WTC site construction. Here's the office tower:

and a crappy pic of the model:

A couple of shots from a courtroom I snuck into on the top floor:

I have always like Binghamton, very nice architecture, nice layout and the photo tours are some of the best around.

Thanks for the shots from a city NEVER see

Nice interesting little city, been through there a few times recently. I actually came pretty close to moving there a few months ago. When you look at the layout and the surrounding terrain, it looks like a mini Pittsburgh.

It's pretty sad to see how hard times have hit it, looks like it used to be a pretty happening place, relatively speaking. Of course the metro pop is about the same as it's always been, so maybe they're not as bad off as it sometimes looks.

As for pic no. 20, I HATE UHAUL!! Damn $229 cell phone bill because their POS truck several times wouldn't start!

Can we see some pics of say, Elmira and Scranton-Wilkes Barre in the near future? These little rust belt cities fascinate me...

I've said it to myself before as well, "Binghamton, the mini-Pittburgh"

Yea these cities from Buffalo to Pittsburgh, Rochester to Harrisburg are all alike in the fact they all are old powerhouses of industry and rail.

I think Binghamton has a special spot in NY, it's kinda the capital of the southern tier, not Elmira...that town is like Chernobyl

Binghamton seems to have some pretty interesting architecture.

BTW...next time you do a photo tour of that area could you include SUNY Binghamton, specifically O'Conner Hall...3rd floor...had allot of sex there...pictures would bring back fond memories.

Thanks for the responses guys. Sarge, sorry about the bad U-haul experience, if it makes you feel any better that lot is on the fringe of downtown and across from an abandoned building (and standby for some of the pics you requested). I guess there is an element of a mini-Pittsburgh in Binghamton, but I'm not sure NoCtUrNaL has had as much luck in the burgh as he did at SUNY Binghamton

When you find a smorgasbord in one place you don't feel the need to go foraging in the surrounding neighborhood especially given its comparable paucity of poon.

SANS? Texans speak French, now?

BTW, Binghamton has some really nice architecture. It looks very big-cityish. I especially admired the building that was flatironish. That looks hot. Our town has one also.

Binghamton is kinda impressive, probably one of the best small cities in the state of NY.

I just spent some time with some relatives from the Binghamton area recently. They were pretty up beat about the university & the rising Catskill Mtns real estate values.

Thanks for the pics. I don't get back east that often anymore.

^ My relatives live 20 miles east of Binghamton in the northwestern periphery of the Catskills. With the Quickway becoming an interstate & more city folks buying vacation land within driving distance (a post 9/11 phenomenom), property values are increasing & that could eventually trickle towards Binghamton. Some great fly fishing & hunting in the area.

Lotsa great architecture.

My most notable "experience" with Binghamton came when I was a student at UNC-Charlotte, I knew about a half-dozen people who were from Binghamton.
