What? It is already above ground, this has been on hold for sometime and is apparently in the process of starting back up.

You know what I meant. I don't think we'll see any part of its structure rise above the surrounding skyscrapers for some time. You don't just pick up where you left off, as though the entire delay never happened. Bringing the site to a workable condition is not an overnight fixerupper.

Very true.

Pinnacle design is dead
17 September 2014 | By Elizabeth Hopkirk

City design chief predicts new application with entirely new design approach

KPF’s signature “helter skelter” design for the long-delayed Pinnacle has been scrapped, BD has learnt.

A fresh planning application with an entirely new design is currently being worked on for the mothballed site in the City of London’s eastern cluster. BD understands it could just be weeks away from submission.

Hopefully, it will be taller and better!

Congrats to the UK staying together!

The previous design was forced to have a height reduction - there's no chance of anything taller here.

That's a huge disappointment. That design was beautiful and a new design will be bound to disappoint. For all the talk of a building boom in London and the sight of cranes around the city, it must be said that there is very little going up which is of real architectural note, especially now with this design canceled, and especially compared to other cities around the world of similar size/status. It all seems like wasted opportunity.

Is this really happening? The surrounding skyscrapers were designed presumably to fit the pinnacle and complete that elegant look of the city. It would have been a master piece, can't the Arabs just make the tower and throw some oil around

The design was a bit tacky to me, so I'm not too sad to see it go.

The surrounding buildings were designed with a pinnacle in mind, not the pinnacle. Any building of similar height and massing would complete the skyline suitably.

The redesign wasn't as good as the original design in my opinion but I don't see how KPF couldn't redesign the pinnacle sharper like the original but cheaper and if not they would of made there revenue after it was built ie. the shard was empty but slowly filled up.
This would have been the centre piece of London

City A.M. today - "Brookfield is in talks with a consortium of investors led by pension giant Axa to buy the building for £220m." The whole business has got so confusing for me that I'm not sure if thats old, new or wrong news. But lets hope it means someone will build the ******* thing

Lipton Rogers and Axa close in on Pinnacle deal

Developer Lipton Rogers and fund manager Axa are closing in on a deal to takeover the development of the stalled Pinnacle tower in London.

Lipton Rogers, alongside a consortium of investors led by French fund manager Axa Real Estate, have been talks to buy the Pinnacle tower since late last year, with a deal initially expected before Christmas.

Following protracted negotiations a deal is now expected to be struck in the next two weeks.

The Axa consortium – understood to comprise around four overseas pension funds - has entered a bid of around £220m to buy the site on 22-24 Bishopsgate in the City of London. HSH Nordbank, which issued the £145m loan to fund the £210m purchase of the site in 2007, will be repaid as part of the deal.
