While it's not as nice as the original, it's still actually a beautiful building. Look at the other images on the link.

It appears to be around 228m tall.

262-278m actually. Not a fan of this design.

Where did you get the height figure from? It doesn't look very tall.

It's because the render makes it look like it's a lot closer to the camera than Leadenhall, but it's actually right next to it in real life.

Right, but where do the height figures come from or are we assuming it will be as tall as the prior design?

The height figures come from a user in the local London forum, from a user who fashions himself as having insider knowledge. Some people believe it, some people don't. You know the story.

in the news, skyscrapercity members!

Commenters on SkyscraperCity were largely unequivocal with their views on the alleged new designs. “That is vile,” said one. “Words fail. This actually could be the worst proposal I’ve ever seen for a London tower,” commented another. “Oh dear,” said a third.
these are massings, but this tower will be a fuglymf

London’s Pinnacle to Be Demolished and Built From Scratch in $460 Million Deal
London, United Kingdom – 19 February 2015

Quote:
The construction of the Pinnacle skyscraper, also known as the Helter Skelter, began in 2009, but only seven of the planned 63 stories were built after the project ran into difficulties.

Now, French investor Axa Real Estate has stepped in to restart construction as part of a $460 million deal.

According to the FT, AXA has teamed up with developer Lipton Rogers and Singapore’s Temasek Holdings to buy the site from current joint owners Arab Investments, Saudi Arabian fund Sedco, and Kuwaiti fund Wafra.

Under the new plans, the current site will be demolished and the skyscraper will be re-built from scratch.

Set to be completed in 2018, the building will be called 22 Bishopsgate.

Architects PLP are rumored to have been signed on to include shops, restaurants, and a viewing platform in the building.

Once completed, it will be the tallest building in the City of London.

I wouldn't call it ugly, but given the prominent position and spectacular design of the previous project, this one is definitively below par...Is it confirmed that this will be the final design?

Apparently the architects have come out and said today that it is an old design and has changed since these were produced.

I hope so because it's pretty terrible at the moment.

Let's hope so. I understand that at the end of the day the decision is with the investors since they are the ones investing the money, but the design for this building is crucial for London's skyline. Hopefully, they will make a good choice.

It's also not the final design - they're old renders. We can expect something better!

One thing is for sure is that people are assuming that this design is final - while it's not, and that it would be accepted by the City of Lond Corp. I seriously doubt this would get planning permission..... it's a turd
