London needs those proposed skyscrapers? Of course it would rank London to a more internationally recognised city when it comes to skyscrapers, fact of the matter is its a highly successful alpha world metropolis with or without Skyscrapers. I love this scraper, after the shard its the best designed/approved scraper in the UK not to mention tallest too.

Yeah, isn't London now voted as the most powerful financial city in the world? London in no way 'needs' skyscrapers. Well not yet anyway. They are just much more 'friendly' and nicer to look at than bulky groundscrapers.

its not voted its fact, and it does need skyscrapers to stop it sprawling out into the surrounding countryside.

Yes, demolition is well underway and is expected to be finished by the end of the summer. Some recent pics below, courtesy of SE9. The developers will make an announcement in a few months' time about whether to proceed with shell/core construction.

Demolition of the CURRENT low rise building.

Then, construction of a stunning 288m skyscraper

That's OK. I can see how you misunderstood what was going on.

I highly expect the developers will push on with this, they seem VERY confident from what has been posted on these boards

That is why I think London will be the best city in the world architecturally. No where else will you get such amazing futuristic buildings litterally meters across the road from a grand old stone building. It will be like that all over the city

Then of course you will have the very dense and new Canary Wharf, that is all totally modern, and then in the opposite direction the cluster at Blackfriars that will sit practically on the edge of the river... amazing
