I've tried to like fenchurch street but I think you're right. It just looks stupid. What a great site and that's all they can come up with

20 Fenchurch doesn't look right. London Lad has posted one of the proper renders from the planning docs-

i know it's from a different angle, but it shows the back is quite different to the way Hayes Davidson have shown it.

It looks fine in most renders, just not in the Hayes Davidson's renders.
I think i'm the only person on this forum who likes it.I used to hate it,but after reading articles and looking at renders and generally researching it a bit it has grown on me =)

For all I know Hayes Davidson did all the renderings for 20FC but they forgot to render lighting on the West side of the tower on the city cluster Will posted (as with all the other towers it would be lit throughout the floors) so thats why it seems a little odd.

Shame they can't add another 12m to this tower to make it a supertall.

It was originally proposed as 307 meters tall, but was reduced, because of concerns or EH(English Heritage[Bunch of twats]) due to god knows what.Ask will.

The Civil Aviation Authority objected because they thought the extra 19m might be a danger to passing aircraft thousands of feet overhead. Yeah I know - go figure...

Such an Elegant Tower. It would look superb with the Shard.

the location for this tower is approx 12m above sea level, the tower will stand 300m if you measure from sea level (datum) however due to London's city airport flight path which goes right over the city the height restriction was imposed to keep the 150m minimum clearance rule

That rendering makes it look like all the other City towers are cowering in a huddle because 20FS is so fugly

is it flat on the top of the spinning roof? Jackie Chan may be able to shoot his incredible scene of sliding down it for the last time.

That's a shame, but it's a stunning tower and it'll look amazing as part of the ever-growing London skyline.

such a shame that height decreases have made this tower slightly more inelegant, a bit fatter, and have squashed and flattened the spiral crown... I fear it will only look slim and elegant from one location now - the south bank where the narrowest side will be seen from (the favorite in many renders as its the most flattering)

Viewing its widest side it wont look good at all.

If he would do that, at the end he would slam into the facade of the tower and then fall 150 meter down, so yes, it would be the last time.

What would happen if they sneakily made the floors taller and it ended up being supertall?
