It'll be nicer, but we have to wait some time. But I really can't wait until it'll have few floors.. (grow faster, lovely!)

What will these cranes be used for? More rebar?

Isn't the core expected to start rising in June/July?

( What's up with all those weird new users that just spam random quotes everywhere lately? They don't try to sell something to us and the aren't spamming any suspicious links. They're just spamming random semi-relevent quotes.... It doesn't make any sense. And always that annoying happy looking smiley at the end which make me believe that it's just one guy with absolutely no life.)

Excellent progress! With this kind of progress, it's almost hard to believe that it will be 3-4 more months until the core is going up.

Pinnacle Construction to begin soon

by Devono | 1 Apr 2010

Construction of ‘The Pinnacle’ skyscraper – also known as the ‘Bishopsgate Tower’ and the ‘Helterskelter’– is close to beginning thanks to an imminent funding package. The developer, Arab Investments, has arranged £550m of debt financing as well as £100m of equity from investors, totalling the £650m required to start work.

The prestigious 63-storey skyscraper at Crosby Court, Bishopsgate, will stand 288m high. The tower will contain 88,000 square metres (950,000 square feet) of office space and accommodation for over 8,000 workers. Completion for the building is scheduled in 2012 and the building is expected to open in 2013.

Construction in London of large developments, such as The Pinnacle, has been hampered over the last two years due to a lack of available finance. As a result, Arab Investments foresee a shortfall in new London office space in the coming years. The Pinnacle will go some way to meeting the predicted deficit.

I'm still waiting for much smaller towers in the vicinity like heron that have been approved ages ago to be built first. but nothing happenes there. even the most promising projects in london like columbus tower seem to be dead now....
How bizarre when you look back on this post from 2005 and think that HD here could never have known that the world's financial system came to the brink of collapse with trillions being written off and the worlds financial services centres being devastated, of which London is pretty much the largest and much the most dependant, that all the big projects in London; Heron, Shard, Pinnacle, Strata, Broadgate, Riverside South, St George's tower et al. are ALL somehow getting/being built! Might cautiously add 122 Leadenhall and 20 Fenchurch St. to that list as there have been several very positive murmurings and moves on these recently.

Even the Columbus Tower, which only a mad 140 year old woman who lives in Boris Johnson's left testicle would have said had even a sniff of a chance of being built, has been green lighted.

What strange times we live in!

Yes, I think I should!:

*edit* does anyone else not see my banana dancing, or is it just me?

I thought it was about time that I made a trip across the river to see what's been happening here since my last visit in December and I was blessed with slightly better weather than jimbo had yesterday.

I'm posting some faves here. More (and larger versions) to be found in my Pinnacle Gallery.

Basement and core works

I have to say this site features some impressively humungous bits of steel.

The new TC1 (near) and TC6 (far)

TC6 and the Heron Tower

Keltgray Diggers at Gate 2 - the smaller one was being craned off (or onto) a lorry

Supervisor supervising

I just liked this
