London skyscraper The Pinnacle hires Totality for branding task

LONDON - The Pinnacle, the new London skyscraper currently under construction, has hired design agency Totality to create a brand identity relevant to a global audience.

The City of London building, also known as The Bishopsgate Tower, will be 288m and 63-storeys high, and is due for completion in 2012.

It will become the second-tallest building in London after the 310m London Bridge Shard, also expected to open its doors in 2012.

The silver logo outlines the building's distinctive design, including its twisting roof. Rather than use previous names, such as The Bishopsgate Tower or The Helter-Skelter, the branding will simply refer to the building as The Pinnacle. Underneath the logo states 'London EC2'.

Chris Abel, founding partner at Totality, said: "Branding in the property sector is so important, as almost every project is marketed off plan before there's anything tangible to see. The Pinnacle right now is just a building site, so a strong identity was a must for the client."

A pile of rubble 'happened' to be placed in front of the viewing windows in the construction fence.

Please stop quoting reams of old pictures unless something you want to talk about relates directly to them =/ Load times and bandwith limits, as well as the rediculous amounts of scrolling caused by multiple copies on one page is getting annoying =z Sorry to go off on one, not directed at anyone in particular

Am I right in observing that practically nothing seems to have been done on site since April 15th apart from the installation of a crane? I'm not saying the usual thing of "how come its taking so long" like people say just I can't see any visible change other than a tiny bit of excavation... And it's not like there's a hidden basement level to be working on (or is there?)... And is it perhaps not coincidental that the viewing windows have not been accessible? Perhaps they didn't want people to see the apparent lack of people working on site...

Anyone know why?

Know, I don't, but I think you are right. There seems to be no progress at the moment.

The construction site still looks really messy. It looks like they're building and demolishing at the same time.

It looks a lot more ordered now than it did a couple of months back!
They are still clearing the site so the basement slab can be extended.

So many cranes so close to each other. Why do they need so many?

I've heard from a reliable source that it was due to sheer boredom.
