Great progress. In many years I've visited Sukarno airport. It was really time for a new airport.

Is there any plan to build a people mover from one pier to another? Judging from those pictures it would take forever walk to reach each pier.

Judging from the construction update images I'd say no... An under ground people mover similar to NRT, HKG, SIN wouldn't be a bad idea...

All right... from today, you can discuss two more airports in this thread:

- Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (HLM)
- Husein Sastranegara International Airport (BDO) - an airport located in Bandung

That way, all Jakarta metro area airports can be discussed under one roof. Sounds fair?

Well, Bandung is technically a part of the Jakarta Metro Area, yes? I mean, with BDO operating international flights, I believe it makes sense to have it combined with CGK and HLM so that the airport developments at all three airports can be discussed more efficiently.

errr no Bandung is not part of Jakarta metro area... Bandung has its own metropolitan area, whilst Jakarta only consist of Jabodetabek - Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi. However the airports do serve as hub for West Java, and Bandung's coming Hussein airport's purpose is to ease the air traffic in the capital. Personally i think the development of each airport should be separate.

Ah I see... but, are you all right combining both airports in one thread, especially that when I look at it on a map, it is relatively close to Metro Jakarta?

Jakarta's airport is located in Tangerang regency which is part of Banten province, Bandung is in West Java is not as close as you think it is and the two area is separate. Its totally different compared to Bogor, which is obviously not connected to the capital and yet is part of the greater city. Bandung is part of West Java, Jakarta lies in its own capital province.

Oh ok... so, what would you like? Would you want BDO to have its own thread? The problem of having such stand-alone threads is that many times, it may be active at first, but it tapers off at some point and end up being at the end of the forums (if thread activity goes down significantly), making searching for it difficult later on...

i'll let the other Indonesian to decide on that matter imo having a mixed thread might be too confusing...

Oh ok. No problem. This reminds me of a similar situation in the Philippines where Manila currently has two international airports within 100km of the metro area, in which both of them provide services for the Megalopolis region. And by the way, how far is BDO from Central Jakarta to give me a relative sense of distance?

Well not sure about how far the airport is, but citywise Bandung is around 150km from the capital.
