My theory also support ACI by itself. If you look at their „passanger traffic for past 12 months“ now (february 2012) u can see number 52 040 276. And since SHIA is growing very fast every month, now it should have more than 54 million passengers for past 12 months (march 2011 to february 2012), but it doesnt. I hope my explanation is understandable.
I believe what ACI means by 2011 was Jan 2011 to Dec 2011.

How can I get monthly traffic from ACI website?? I cant enter the website

It seems that the first 2 months of 2012, Soekarno Hatta International Airport has entered the top 10 of the world's busiest airports with more than 22% increase in passenger traffic.

I do see the rising influx of overseas tourists visiting Indonesia right now could be one of the reasons.

of course 2011 means jan-dec 2011, i dont deny it, im just saying last 12 months (march 2011 to february 2012) has lower number than 2011 itself. (2011 - 52,446,618 / mar2011-feb2012 - 52 040 276.
It just doesnt seem logical its lower now, since CDG is growing double digit almost every month, jan and feb 2012 included.

What happen in Jakarta CGK is not really a rising influx from overseas tourist.... But, more to stronger domestic demands. It is getting stronger. Dont forget Indonesia is an archipelagic country. People relies a lot on air transport.

It is pretty big country as well, spanning over 3 different time zones. Starting next month, CGK-DJJ domestic direct flight will be opened. It takes 5 and half hours to fly from CGK to DJJ.

New aircraft orders are arriving to the country and allowing airliners to increase the flight frequency.

After October 14, Lufthansa will drop its direct flight between Munich and Jakarta which stops en route in Singapore.
Currently Lufthansa serves both Asian cities five times a week from Munich with an A340-300.

"We regret that Lufthansa will no longer connect these two Asian cities with Munich," says Thomas Kluehr, the Executive Board member in charge of Munich Services.

Would there be some interested foreign investors who will take part in revitalizing CGK?

Hope this will boost Indonesian travelers' interest in flying to Vietnam...

I dunno if Garuda, Air Asia Indonesia and other Indonesian airlines have direct flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh (Saigon)...

According to Wikipedia there are flights to Ho Chi Minh City by AirAsia and Lion Air. To Hanoi there are no flights. From other Indonesian airports there are no flights to Vietnam at all, as far as I know.

Soekarno-Hatta expansion project to start this week

Quote:
State owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) is set to start the first expansion phase of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng, Banten, west of Jakarta this week, a company executive said.

AP II corporate secretary Trisno Heryadi said that the first phase would begin on Thursday and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was scheduled to launch the ground-breaking ceremony.

“The President himself will launch the expansion of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport because this airport is the face of Indonesia and it is certainly a big project,” Trisno told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.

A much needed expansion too with the impressive growth the airport is experiencing at the moment.
