Even standing underneath Sears Tower or The Chrystler Building I didn't think they seemed so big so I think its somnething to do with the angle of view, obviously its not the same as from a distance.

On www.skyscrapernews.com an article stated that the beetham tower had topped out now and was just reaching its final stages of construction.
This baffles me because when you take a look at the Buildings diagram ([url]www.skyscraperpage.com[url]) that CAW123 has done the tower looks huge compared with the CIS and Sunley tower. But from a distance looking at Manchester city centre the towers all look about the same height. Can anybody shed some light on this matter. I was under the impression this tower was going to be massive compared with the present ones.

I disagree entirely! Sears looms MASSIVELY when you're stood under it. Perhaps beetham will look better once clad and finished, and at it's full height. |

Be fair, somebody started the party early and drunkenly pushed a crane off the top in a feat of superhuman strength equalled only by the power of Brian Blessed's voice.

Nice renders of 2-4 Chester Road, Subtract. I like it.
I agree about towers looking smaller close up. Maybe it varies from person to person but I always think they look bigger from a distance. I remember the first time I saw 1 Canada Square and thinking it looked nowhere near the height I imagined. In fact, the same goes for Sunley and CIS -- they loom so large from a distance, particularly Sunley, and yet look positively dainty close up. Well OK, maybe not dainty but you get my drift...
